This is really sad. If you really look back at this from our foreparents point a view We all came from Africa India and other conuntries okay. We were sent to the caribbean as slaves to plant sugar cane and therfore to different islands and countries ok. We all have relatives in each others countries/islands because we worked in the sugar industries of the caribbean and settled down with the man or woman you loved. And now here we are dividing our selves over what!! Internationally we west indians marry into each our from different islands we live in England Canada US where ever but what happens when your child has a Bajan Father and a Trini Mother or a Jamacian Father and a Guyanese mother. That child is lost. So whats at stake here?? Its absolutely bashing each other about ourselves is Thats why we have CARICOM !! So that we can share knowledge. I don't usually listen to music but I had to hear this when i saw it in the newspaper online. I don't entirely disagree with the song. This is advice to any woman, regardless of race. Nothing about race was mentioned in the song. If you want to assume that because Regina got roti means she is Indian that's you. Any Guyanese woman worth her weight can make a good curry and a good metemgee. Regardless of if you are working or not, educated or not, intelligent or not you grandmothers advise is still true. You can't degrade, starve and insult you man in order to keep him. Don't let money and college degree don't mek yu loose yu femininity. Tek she advise!
There are a couple things I have to say about this song. I agree with the post above that says that this song is racist. Not only is it is racist though, it is also sexist. To make a song which completely degrades women is disgusting and to assume that Guyanese women (regardless of race) are in this country to serve our men is just plain ol' stupid talk. I am a Bajan as well and I am proud to be a part of this country...at the same time I notice the racism and sexism that exists in this country (all proven by this song) and it makes me sick. Even the reply is quite sad (take a listen). Anyhow, to reiterate it is not right to assume that all Guyanese girls are of Indian background and that they are all about sex. In fact, I have many Guyanese friends who I could say are some of the most intelligent people I know...most of which are top of the class at UWI (where I attend).
Anyhow, to add on to the post above that gave a bit of Guyanese history, it is important to note that it is not only Indo-Guyanese that were displaced. Many Afro-Guyanese were displaced, as well (and yes they are still Guyanese regardless of how "similar" (in skin tone) they may be). In fact the history of Guyana have many similarities to our history (formerly colonized by the Brits, 200 years of slavery). So rather than comparing each other and making racist and sexist comments about who can "serve" men better we should remember our histories and remember that no one is better than the other.

Guyanese women aren't all whoring(like you forget what does go on here for money, Brand Name clothing and food in some cases), don't let me start, I may be Bajan and proud but I hate to hear stupidity talk(unfortunately, which is ever TOO often)... or to hear Guyanese so desperately want status. A very big Racial issue... which needs to damn well stop! Before finger pointing and singling out Guyanese INDIANS!!!you should probably research their history and see that they were one of the most rich people in Guyana, unfortunately for them their president at the time Mr. Forbes Burnham, took away their riches and most of the higher class Guyanese were forced to move to far away countries(Including Bim) leaving their massive homes and riches to be treated as second class citizens in other people's land! That's just unfair to them because people leave what is bad to find something better. So before yall ignorant racist people start talking go and freaking well research, ask questions and find out information and come back again. And How I know that the song is very much racist is because black Guyanese, white Guyanese, Chinese Guyanese don't traditionally make ROTI AND DAHL PUREE!
